How do I get my kitten to stop using the bathroom everywhere?
I’ve had a new kitten for less than a week now, and it’s starting to use the bathroom in the place its not suppose to. We have a litter box and keep it in a separate closet from its food. The only time it will use the bathroom is when I take it. How can I get my kitten to use its litter box all the time?
Thanks!

I would move the box to a new spot. The kitten might not like where its at or having trouble remembering where its at. ♥
put the litter box in a differnt location, and then take your cat there and grab his front paws and rub em against the litter in a digging motion, that should do it pixidoas243w
Confine your kitten in the bathroom with the litter box until it learns to use the litter box. By allowing it free range and carte blanche to go potty where ever it wishes, it will never learn to stop and will always make messes around the house. Stick kitty in the bathroom for at least 3 days (no matter how much it cries) until it uses the litter box more often than not, then gradually allow kitty freedom in another room WHILE YOU ARE THERE to monitor it. When it goes in your bedroom and not in the litter box, confine it in the bathroom all over again. Then repeat, adding more litter boxes in each room you choose to allow it freedom. Who says you only need 1 litter box in the house? Why not have 1 in each room? Kitty will accept praise for using each litter box in each room. As you gradually allow it freedom it will learn to use the litter boxes around the house and then you can reduce the amount of litter boxes to the main rooms until both of you figure it out. enn

I use to have the same problem, try moving the litter box to a different place. Also show the kitten where it is. what i did and kept the little thing locked in my room for about 3 days (with its food & water and litter box of course) until she got familiar with her litter box and also went to it no mater where it was.
Good Luck i know its frustrating! Samantha M
Don’t forget to clean the areas on which the kitten eliminated completely. You MUST eliminate all traces of the odor or else the kitten will smell the previous accidents and continue to use that spot. You can buy cleaners that will eliminate all traces of urine, etc., at pet supply stores or even some supermarkets. Do not listen to anyone who advises you to do something like rub the kitten’s nose in previous messes, as that will also reinforce this habit of elimination in that spot; by drawing attention to the spot, you are in effect teaching the kitten that this spot is associated with elimination.
As for moving the litter box, be advised that some cats may be spooked by such a dramatic relocation. Experts often advise moving litter boxes no more than a few feet at a time. If this is not practical, set up an additional litter box in the new location. The option to restrict the kitten to the room or to a small area around the litter box may make more sense. blueyed_puella
lock them in a room with cat litter, food and drinks for a week or so they will recognize and will deffinitely remember where it is. Don’t worry about locking them in a room that’s how you usually train a young kitten to use litter box. Just visit them a couple times a day, clean the litter box everyday, replace new water twice a day and food, stay in the room sometimes and watch them and teach them where to do their poop business, let them out and play for a while and put them back in the room again until they’re ready and let them out. If they’re starting to poop all over again lock them again. They just like little kid you need to guide and teach them all the time until they learn. Rey L
